Woman + Power
“There’s power in allowing yourself to be known and heard, in owning your unique story, in using your authentic voice.” ―Michelle Obama
Hello Friends,
It’s an overcast, chilly morning. I hang up the phone with a sigh, a sigh knowing how difficult it can be for young women to discover their self-worth, their self-love. I met Monica a couple of years ago when I started offering pro-bono life coaching for youth who were experiencing the trauma of having a parent in prison. As many of you know, my father was incarcerated for most of my life. Now I am here to listen, to encourage, to show by example that it is possible to heal, to boldly create your excellent life and be filled with inspiration and possibilities.
An hour later an email pops up that immediately piques my interest. I learn that March is International Women's Month. I sit at my desk and research to find these words. It is a time to recognize and remember the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women worldwide. The theme for 2025 is “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating &Inspiring Generations.” My mood lifts. Do I see a bit of sunlight cascading through the clouds outside my window?
I reflect back to a time in my life. I spent years trying to bury my hurt emotions about my dad until I finally reached out for help. I called Chloé Taylor Brown, a transformational life coach. Chloe Taylor Brown . I learned that Chloé’s life journey began as a black female in the rural south who went on to become an international runway model, author, and advocate for women and girls.
Today her coaching continues to help women evolve their careers and contributions for accelerated achievement in all areas of their lives. She explains, “There comes a moment when a woman stands at the edge of who she’s been and dares to step fully into who she’s becoming. It is her divine call to move beyond status quo, beyond hesitation, and into brilliance.”
It was late December 2010. I went to bed thinking about the work I had done with. Chloé. What would happen, I wondered, if I dedicated 2011 to a quest to learn more about what she called my “isness” which is the unique expression of my higher nature. Could I follow my heart and trust my divine calling? I wasn’t sure, but I was willing to give it try. That moment changed my life forever.
Maya Angelou says, ““Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women.”
Chloé’s coaching helped me find my isness. I took the next steps on my healing journey. I moved forward! Her resilience and caring resulted in me knowing unconditional love for my father, writing my book of hope so that other families may find peace and forgiveness See You in the Skyand creating opportunities through my new, chosen career as a life coach to, as she has done, support women and girls to find their own unique story.
I dedicate March 2025 to Chloé Taylor Brown, a woman who exemplifies the inspiration of International Women’s Month.
