Self-Care Activist
“Self-Care is not a luxury.” Lee Harris
Care is needed more than ever on our Earth.
When I recently did some soul searching asking the question, ‘How can I help,’ the message I got back was practice self-care. I used to believe that taking care of myself was selfish, but what I now know is that I am the world. We are the world and when we take the time to nurture our individual selves, those acts of kindness to the self resonates out for benefit of all beings including the earth. Self-care is being proactive. Self-care is taking action.
What is self-care? Self-care or self-love are activities that you choose to do that enhances your mental, physical, and spiritual health and well-being. Self-care can be simple. Notice the blue sky as you walk along the street. Place a bouquet of flowers on your desk. Self-care is personal to you and may shift and change along the way. I suggest that you drop the thought that self-care is ‘just one more thing to do.’ Instead, discover in the moments of your day a refreshing connection to your life and the life around you that boosts your inner glow.
I know that many of you already engage in self-care. What I wish to emphasize is how the power of your presence contributes to a more peaceful world. There is wisdom in the saying, Be the change you wish to see in the world. (Gandhi).
Intention: Discover what gives you sense a meaningful, inspiring connection to the moments of your life in ways that bring you joy, fun, and peace. Allow these self-care gestures to fill your heart and soul with love.
