Years ago when Gina was eighteen just graduating from high school I heard her speak at a rally about how soccer saved her life from being in gangs. I reached out to her that day and became her mentor. Today more than twenty years later we are still together, but now she is the mentor! Over the years she has become one of our community’s leaders as a Juvenile Probation Officer and the founder of the Aztecas Youth Soccer Program. Her passion to help kids that were just like her growing up has resulted in many accolades (Jefferson Award, California Assembly 28th District Peace Award, American Red Cross LIfetime Achievement Hero Award, and many more) for her service as well as being instrumental in changing the life course for many youth. Thank you Gina! http://www.aztecasyouthsocceracademy.org/programs
